Series Martinez : Empty Storefront

Seen in the town of Martinez, CA
Businesses here come and go. Most do not seem to thrive. It has been a depressed town for a decade or so. I'm glad not to live here, but I still find some odd kind of beauty to photograph in what remains here in the town.

Living as we did in Roseville, and having friends in San Francisco, San Rafael and Novato, and reltives in San Mateo / Foster City, Martinex=z was just a town we went through...Yet there is a sadness that I fewel when I think of this town and after reading your words. Real people worked here, owned business, planned their lives...only to have them scattered to the winds like so many others . Your pictures tell this story so well....Thank you Dulcie...dj
