Series Martinez : For Lease

Posted by

Seen on the streets of the town of Martinez, CA.

Businesses here come and go. Most do not seem to thrive. It has been a depressed town for a decade or so. I'm glad not to live here, but I still find some odd kind of beauty to photograph in the buildings and streets of the downtown area.

As everywhere many businesses close their doors, a harsh reality. Superb image. Nice day.

Shot in great light, perhaps the product offer/mix just wasn't right?
I cannot think of a shop in South Shields where I might go if I needed a filing cabinet and starter motor for a 2006 Nissan.

Beautiful light. I just returned from a trip to the midwest and it was the same. So many businesses closed.

Lots of Mid-Western towns are like this or worse in terms of businesses going under. It's a long term trend as younger people move away. A fine shot of this place for lease.

Jogs my memory...I built a large refinery building in Martinez that stills shows up on Google maps ; ] With the refineries, it's not much of a place to live, though in a certain irony Martinez was the final home and the resting place of John Muir.

@ordinaryimages: Hummm, I was just there again today....I wonder if I saw "your" building? Yes, it's an odd place providing me with a number of "odd" photos. ;-)
