bee-careful . . .

Posted by
DULCIE (Danville, CA, United States) on 14 July 2011 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

I held my breath as I cut bunches and bunches of the lavender growing outside my front door. There were dozens of bees swarming there and they sounded angry that I was interfering with them ... but luckily I did NOT get stung !
(I thought they owed me a photo for all the pollen my flowers supply them :-)

i have a lavender in my garden. i wish i had more of them-- i love the way they bloom for a long time. and yes- it too has lots of bees. but bees are good for my garden, so i don't mind them at all. and perhaps oddly, the lavender doesn't have spider webs on it like many of my other plants. i don't think spiders like all the bees bussing around any more than you do.

Lovely image, and beautiful color of the lavender. The buzzing is merely the sound their wings make as they fly around looking for nectar. That's great that you have honeybees visiting your garden!
