california winter : breakfast outside . . .

Oakland, CA ~

The other day we breakfasted outdoors on the patio at "Miss Pearl's Jam House" restaurant on Jack London Square, with our dog at our feet and the sun shining over all.

I had started out the morning intending to have a good photo shoot, but my Nikon quit on me, blinking that dreaded "error message" symbol. So, I decided that if a number of you on AM3 could do it, it was time for me to try out my new iPhone 4, too. I am amazed by it's 'camera' feature. This is my debut shot ! :-)

The quality of the photo is good... iPhone 4 is a good everyday companion for a photographer... :-)

Like the summer-feeling in this photo with the pair of sunglasses and the sunshine on the plate.

So agree on how amazing these multi-task devices can perform and that's some mean-looking cutlery you got there, too !
Last time one of my Nikons came up with that heart-stopper message, I lugged it to a store and the guy took the card out, put it back in and handed it back fixed.

16 Feb 2011 9:42am

@Ronnie 2¢: That's about how it happened. I went by the store, the guy fiddled with it, jiggled the telephoto lens, pushed the shutter down a couple of times and it was fixed. :-) He told me it probably jammed and that if it kept happening, to bring it back to the store to send it in for service. :-(

daniela scharnowski from Berlin, Germany

Brr, breakfast outside isn´t an opton here right now (i´m just jealous) - i like the angle along the fork on the plate - up to the shades, very nice! Sorry for asking, haven´t got an iphone - can you adjust any settings like aperture etc on that?

19 Feb 2011 10:43am

@daniela scharnowski: Sorry to be so long in answering..... there are adjustments on the iPhone 4 only for spot focus, and to zoom in or out, to add a flash or not, to add HDR or not. Everything else is decided by the iphone. Thanks for your comment and question, Daniela. :-)
