Lafayette CA ~
I was shlepping my camera and tripod down a little lane to snap some photos of leaves
when I passed a building and found this broken window.
I did take some leaf shots, but I had much more fun with this old window. :-)

beautiful dulcie. and the brush is a complete surprise.
the surtains should be taken down and cleaned. why oh why do people put up heavy curtains on such a beautiful day. they like to live in darkness, i guess.
open the window, and put the brush to good use, i always say.
well, this is the first time i ever said that, but still...

A single adjective for your image Dulcie! Exquisite! Nothing is missing. Nor does he spare anything! The beauty of things you wrecked by passage of time!

Focus is fine, revealing decay and textures. It seems that a painter may have lived here...

Who else would have got to see such beauty out of innocuous things? It is the creative lot who have a blind eye for common things! Right?

Looks like some places I used to see in Berkeley. They were stuck in Russia for so long but they are coming ut (Berkeley that is) Tom & I stopped in the renovated Shattuck Hotel when we were out walking last fall and it is really sharp with a lovely new restaurant. They say that Emeryville changing so much is challenging them as they watch Emeryvilles coffers load up.

This is my favorite image this week...for the story behind it: the cracked paint, the withered vines, the broken glass, grimy curtains, paintbrush (small broom?) Interesting to think about photos that focus on an object and those that take you somewhere new because of it.

I love an image that causes me to ask questions. I want to know what's beyond the window. Why is it broken? Who lived here? An artist, perhaps? And on, and on . . . .

Oh this is really beautiful! I love that concealed paintbrush particularly, and the lovely muted off-violet color of the wood, and that little suggestion of greenery in the bottom left corner and those spider-like vines pushing out of the window add a touch of eeriness to what is otherwise lovely. You've caught mystery in light here. Thanks, Dulcie.
