k@ from Paris, FranceClever question since I really wondered if this flower was edible ! ;) 9 Jun 2009 7:32am @k@: No, not edible that I know of....though, Sarah would know! These stamens and pistils are found in the white iceberg roses right outside my front door. Sarah from SwitzerlandWhen I saw it in small format (before I clicked on it) I thought it was spaghetti bolognaise!! Very cool shot but not sure what it is. I'll make you a deal - you tell me what it is and I'll tell you what it's good for! haha! The crystalised bit on the top is beautiful. 9 Jun 2009 7:37am @Sarah: The answer is B). From the roses outside my front door. And they are good for......??? ;-) Anna.C from LA ROCHELLE, Francefunny shot and question ;-) I also wonder if it's edible ? spaghetti perhaps ?? love your humor Dulcie ! 9 Jun 2009 1:05pm @Anna.C: Thanks...It would take a very tiny spoon to dig that out of the center of my roses. ;-) @JOEMULLIGAN: Thanks. Want some rose sushi? Devon from Los Angeles, United StatesOrganic Sashimi with Roe, a famous request at the Sushi bar by Queen Bea 9 Jun 2009 8:35pm @Devon: Very clever. Where is that Sushi Bar? ;-) Sarah from SwitzerlandWell.... I do know that rose petals are edible! And also that rosehips have massive amounts of Vitamin C... rosehip tea is delicious. I keep meaning to drink more of it but forget... Wikipedia can tell you more than I know - oh, and essential oil of roses is VERY expensive. Roses must have skin healing properties as well because they are found in a lot of natural face creams, for example WELEDA makes a nice rose cream. Anyhow, all that to say that Dulcie's photo is still gorgeous and I'm grateful to be shown the very itsy bitsy inside of a rose! Thanks Dulcie - it really is beautiful! here is the wikipedia bit about roses: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose_hips 9 Jun 2009 9:22pm @Sarah: Thanks for all the info and the link!
